Emerging from Pittsburgh's underground music scene, Dreadnot was a short-lived dub-reggae band featuring Brian Seese and Nat Kendell on vocals and guitar, Tony Vinski on bass, and Drew Philp on drums. Operating within a local music community largely centered around rock and punk, the group explored Jamaican roots-dub and sound system styles, ultimately releasing their studio album, Plastic Nation, originally issued on Mellow Mood Records (a precursor to Swade Records).

Plastic Nation featured the group's original material and dub production techniques, utilizing reverb, delay, and bass-heavy arrangements. Vinski's basslines and Philp's drum grooves formed the rhythmic foundation for the tracks, while Seese and Kendell handled vocal duties and guitar work, capturing the band's approach to the genre on record.

Although Dreadnot had a relatively brief run, Plastic Nation remains a recorded document of the band's time in the Pittsburgh music community. The project brought together musicians from various local rock backgrounds to explore reggae and dub styles within the region's independent circuit.
